Extension Panels made out of metal that attach to extrusions mounted onto the client's X-Ray Operator Stand. The panels are 83" tall and extend the operator's radiation protection to 60" wide. Designed to ship in a smaller box, the panel had to hold itself up with some consideration at the base.
A Cart designed to hold various size paddles for storage when not in use. The cart was designed to hold various sizes on a track with the positions under each shelf. The entire unit is made from sheet metal with plastic covering the sides and top. The unit was also designed with hiding as much of the hardware as possible.
This robot was for the 2007 competition; with this robot, I helped with the arm and the transmission; this photo was taken before the robot entered the final stages of being built, so many components are missing in this picture, but the transmission can be seen, we used Omni directional wheels and two traction wheels for smaller turn radius and speed.
The FIRST Competition this year was to score using large air-filled balls, which had to be carried past a finish line in a closed course. The balls could also be raised up above a raised bridge to get extra points. The robots could interfere with other robots; thus, a round design with omnidirectional wheels was selected. The curved design was to help it run around the course without being trapped by other robots. The arm was designed to hold a ball tightly without hindering the turning of the robot. Also, the heavier base lowered our center of gravity. I created the transmission and helped with making the frame. The robot also had bumpers I designed to mount onto a round frame, which was not shown in the picture.
The competition for FIRST robotics this year was to score using floor height and raised rings with balls. As the ring was raised up, shooting into the ring needed a robot able to pick up the balls lying around and aim at the rings. I worked on the shooting device, which was fed with the basket shown in front. The shooting device was similar to how tennis balls fired out of a machine using wheels. Not shown here are the camera and basket feed system. The frame can be seen here, which was worked on and built by the mechanical team, of which I was a part.
